GRE Overview and Structure

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test is used by US graduate schools as a standard way to assess applicants. The exam measures verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing skills. Data shows that GRE scores are good predictors of graduate students' performance.

Verbal Section (Two Sections)

Time: 30 minutes
Format: 20 questions

Quantitative Section (Two Sections)

Time: 35 minutes

Writing Assessment

Time: 60 minutes
Format: Two 30 minute essays
